The Chikunda of Mozambique
The Chikunda of Mozambique, numbering about 86,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Zambezi valley people whose identity formed from slave-warriors elevated to soldier and trader roles on Portuguese prazo estates, founding trading states across Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe after the prazo system collapsed.
They are an indigenous people in the Bantu, Chewa-Sena people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion, and they primarily speak Kunda.
