The Yagua of Peru
The Yagua of Peru, numbering about 5,700 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Peba-Yaguan people of the Amazon, Napo, Putumayo, and Yavari river basins whose Jesuit mission settlements collapsed by 1768 amid disease and Portuguese slave raids, later suffering renewed devastation during the 1880-1914 Amazon rubber boom.
They are an indigenous people in the South American Indigenous people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples. Their primary religion is Animism, and they primarily speak Yagua.
