The Kokama of Peru
The Kokama of Peru, numbering about 11,500 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are an Amazonian people of the Huallaga, Maranon, Ucayali, and Amazonas river basins, first contacted by Spanish explorers in 1557 and now reviving their Tupi-Guarani-derived Kukama-Kukamiria language after generations of decline.
They are an indigenous people in the Guarani people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples. Their primary religion is Animism, and they primarily speak Loreto-Ucayali Spanish.
