The Wapixana of Guyana
The Wapixana of Guyana, numbering about 6,400 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are an Arawak people of Guyana's southern Rupununi savannas between the Takutu and Kwitaro rivers, driven south from the Rio Branco basin by the Macushi under European pressure before being conscripted to labor at a Portuguese fort by the late 1700s.
They are an indigenous people in the South American Indigenous people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion, and they primarily speak Wapishana.
