The Waiwai of Guyana
The Waiwai of Guyana, numbering about 250 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Cariban people whose ancestral homeland was Brazil's Mapuera River basin, migrating north to Guyana's Acarai Mountains by 1837 under pressure from Portuguese missionaries, a composite of six smaller groups including the Shereo, Parukoto, and Taruma.
They are an indigenous people in the South American Indigenous people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples. Their primary religion is Protestantism, and they primarily speak Waiwai.
