The Aukan of Guyana
The Aukan of Guyana, numbering about 850 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Maroon people descended from escaped enslaved Africans of the Suriname interior whose communities extend into eastern Guyana and whose identity is rooted in Aukan cultural traditions, riverine settlement, and the Ndyuka language.
They are a diaspora people in the Afro-American people cluster of the North American Peoples. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion, and they primarily speak Eastern Maroon Creole.
