The Swahili of Comoros

The Swahili of Comoros, numbering about 1,200 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Swahili-speaking people descended from Arabian, Persian Gulf, and East African traders who intermarried with the islands' Bantu and Austronesian settlers, founding independent sultanates in the Comoros by the fifteenth century.

They are an indigenous people in the Bantu, Swahili people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Sunni Islam, and they primarily speak Swahili (individual language).
