The Swahili of Uganda
The Swahili of Uganda, numbering about 5,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Swahili-speaking community of Uganda whose language, introduced by Arab traders before European contact, briefly served as the Protectorate's official tongue from 1900 to 1912, later tainted by military unrest before regaining official status in 2022.
They are an indigenous people in the Bantu, Swahili people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Sunni Islam, and they primarily speak Swahili (individual language).
