The Bangi of the Republic of the Congo
The Bangi of the Republic of the Congo, numbering about 126,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Bantu people whose Bobangi ancestors dominated 500 kilometers of the upper Congo River trade route in the late 1700s and 1800s, assimilating or displacing rival groups, their trade tongue becoming the primary source of modern Lingala.
They are an indigenous people in the Bantu, Central-Congo people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Protestantism, and they primarily speak Bangi.
