The Danau of Myanmar
The Danau of Myanmar, numbering about 5,700 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a small Mon-Khmer people near Aungban in Shan State, the most divergent branch of the Palaungic family, speaking a four-tone language with heavy Burmese borrowing, frequently and mistakenly confused with the larger, unrelated Danu people.
They are an indigenous people in the Mon-Khmer people cluster of the Southeast Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Theravada Buddhism, and they primarily speak Danau.
