The Indo-Fijians of the United States
The Indo-Fijians of the United States, numbering about 600 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a diaspora community descended from Girmitiya indentured laborers who began arriving in Fiji from India in 1879, whose harsh five-year plantation contracts dissolved caste distinctions and gave rise to a new koine language, Fiji Hindi.
They are a diaspora people in the Fiji people cluster of the Pacific Islander Peoples. Their primary religion is Folk Hinduism, and they primarily speak Fiji Hindi.
