The Yelmar of India
The Yelmar of India, numbering about 18,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a community of Sangli and Satara districts, Maharashtra, near the Karnataka border, once warriors granted village headmanships under Muslim rule. Settled cultivation and animal husbandry remain their principal occupations today.
They are an indigenous people in the Malayali people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism, and they primarily speak Marathi.
