The Khampti of India
The Khampti of India, numbering about 21,500 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Tai people of Arunachal Pradesh's Namsai district whose name means land full of gold, having migrated from Yunnan through Myanmar's Putao area to northeast India from the mid-1700s, devout followers of Theravada Buddhism.
They are an indigenous people in the Shan people cluster of the Southeast Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Theravada Buddhism, and they primarily speak Khamti.
