The Kepmari of India

The Kepmari of India, numbering about 1,100 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a former criminal community of South Arcot and North Arcot districts in Tamil Nadu whose name derives from a word for pickpocketing. Most are now agricultural laborers, teachers, or clerks, worshipping the deity Muniswaran.

They are an indigenous people in the Tamil people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism, and they primarily speak Tamil.
