The Pangans of India
The Pangans of India, numbering about 134,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Sunni Muslim community of the Barak valley in Assam whose ancestors entered Manipur from Bengal in the seventeenth century. Agriculture remains primary, supplemented by teaching and business.
They are an indigenous people in the Manipuri people cluster of the Himalayan Peoples. Their primary religion is Sunni Islam, and they primarily speak Manipuri.
