The Dokhpa of India
The Dokhpa of India, numbering about 2,400 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Scheduled Tribe of Jammu and Kashmir also known as Brokhpa, meaning people of the meadow, descended from the Dard of Gilgit, practicing fraternal polyandry and traditionally sustained by agriculture as Buddhists.
They are an indigenous people in the Tibetan people cluster of the Tibetan Peoples. Their primary religion is Tibetan Buddhism, and they primarily speak Ladakhi.
