The Thakurai of India
The Thakurai of India, numbering about 11,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Muslim community of Champaran district, Bihar, believed descended from Rajput recruited into Aurangzeb's army. Landowning agriculture remains their principal economic resource.
They are an indigenous people in the Urdu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Sunni Islam, and they primarily speak Urdu.
