The Pagi of India
The Pagi of India, numbering about 650 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a small fishing community of Canacona district in Goa and adjacent Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka, their name recalling casting nets. Fishing remains primary, supplemented by farm labor.
They are an indigenous people in the Marathi-Konkani people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism, and they primarily speak Konkani (individual language).
