They are a blacksmithing and carpentry community of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Haryana, also called Lohar, tracing their craft to the divine architect Vishwakarma. Ironwork and carpentry remain their main occupations.
They are an indigenous people in the Hindi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism, and they primarily speak Haryanvi.
