The Paraujano of Venezuela
The Paraujano of Venezuela, numbering about 17,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Lake Maracaibo people also called Anu, whose stilt-house villages reminded Vespucci of Venice when Ojeda's fleet arrived in 1499, giving the region the name Veneziola, origin of Venezuela, though their Arawakan language is now critically endangered.
They are an indigenous people in the South American Indigenous people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples. Their primary religion is Folk Catholicism, and they primarily speak Spanish.
