The Mararit of Sudan
The Mararit of Sudan, numbering about 46,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are an ethnolinguistic people of western Sudan and eastern Chad who speak Mararit, a Tama-related language. They preserve a distinct identity through agro-pastoral livelihoods, kinship networks, Islamic traditions, and cultural ties with other Tama peoples.
They are a diaspora people in the Ouaddai-Fur people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Their primary religion is Sunni Islam, and they primarily speak Mararit.
