The Mahamid of Chad, numbering about 29,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are an indigenous Mahamid branch of the Shuwa Arabs, a Chadian Arabic-speaking pastoral people of the Lake Chad basin whose communities extend into southeastern Niger.
They are an indigenous people in the Arab, Shuwa people cluster of the Arab Peoples. Their primary religion is Sunni Islam, and they primarily speak Chadian Arabic.
