The Malai Vedan of India
The Malai Vedan of India, numbering about 18,500 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Scheduled Tribe of Kanyakumari district in Tamil Nadu and Kerala whose name combines hill and hunter. Historically nomadic hunters of wild game, today agricultural and plantation labor have replaced their forest livelihood.
They are an indigenous people in the South Asian Tribal people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Folk Hinduism, and they primarily speak Malayalam.
