The Mukri of India
The Mukri of India, numbering about 15,500 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste of Uttar Kannada district in Karnataka, also called Ganji or Hebbe Gauda, believed to have migrated from Andhra Pradesh. Fishing and farm labor remain their occupations.
They are an indigenous people in the Kanarese people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism, and they primarily speak Kannada.
