The Thakuri of India
The Thakuri of India, numbering about 31,500 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Himalayan aristocratic lineage whose name derives from the Sanskrit Thakkura, meaning lord, claiming descent either from Rajput migrants fleeing Islamic invasions or from indigenous Khas elites, producing Nepal's ruling Shah and Malla dynasties.
They are an indigenous people in the Nepali-Pahari people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism, and they primarily speak Nepali (individual language).
