The Bhumija (Assamese) of India
The Bhumija (Assamese) of India, numbering about 266,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a migrant Dravidian community, regarded as an offshoot of the Mundas of Ranchi district in Bihar. The Bhumija migrated to Assam from Bihar and Bengal and settled there as tea garden laborers.
They are an indigenous people in the Munda-Santal people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism, and they primarily speak Assamese.
