The Mech of India
The Mech of India, numbering about 74,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Scheduled Tribe of Jalpaiguri, Koch Bihar, and Darjeeling districts in West Bengal, speaking the Bodo language. Formerly shifting cultivators, they now practice settled agriculture and follow Hinduism or Christianity.
They are an indigenous people in the Other Tibeto-Burmese people cluster of the Tibetan Peoples. Their primary religion is Folk Hinduism, and they primarily speak Assamese.
