The Komara Panta of India
The Komara Panta of India, numbering about 41,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a community of Uttara Kannada district in Karnataka and Goa, followers of the Lingayat teacher Komar Swamy, once soldiers and toddy-tappers. Most now work in manual labor, agriculture, and services. They are predominantly Hindu.
They are an indigenous people in the Marathi-Konkani people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism, and they primarily speak Konkani (individual language).
