The Dimasa of India

The Dimasa of India, numbering about 132,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Scheduled Tribe of the North Cachar Hills and Karbi Anglong districts in Assam, whose name means sons of the great river. Slash-and-burn cultivation remains their traditional occupation, alongside Hinduism and an older tribal faith.

They are an indigenous people in the Other Tibeto-Burmese people cluster of the Tibetan Peoples. Their primary religion is Folk Hinduism, and they primarily speak Kachari.
