The Mallah of India

The Mallah of India, numbering about 3,780,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a group of boating and fishing communities of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi, also called Nishad or Kewat, tracing legendary descent from the ferryman who carried Lord Rama. Fishing and agriculture remain their occupations.

They are an indigenous people in the Mallah people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Folk Hinduism, and they primarily speak Bengali.
