The Khetauri of India
The Khetauri of India, numbering about 139,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a community of Bihar's Santal Pargana region believed to have migrated from Rajasthan in the sixteenth century. Their name derives from khet, meaning field. Agriculture remains their main occupation, supplemented by construction labor.
They are an indigenous people in the Bhojpur-Maithili people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism, and they primarily speak Maithili.
