The Katia of India
The Katia of India, numbering about 253,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste community of Chhindwara and Jabalpur districts in Madhya Pradesh named for their former occupation of spinning cotton thread. Most have since taken up rickshaw-pulling and agricultural labor.
They are an indigenous people in the Hindi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Folk Hinduism, and they primarily speak Hindi.
