They are an occupational caste of earth-diggers and laborers found across Haryana, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, speaking Rajasthani, Magahi and Hindi dialects, practicing Hindu rituals and cremation.
