The Ahom of India

The Ahom of India, numbering about 874,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Tai-descended people of Assam founded when the prince Sukaphaa led migrants across the Patkai mountains from Mong Mao in 1228, their extinct Tai speech and native population absorbed over centuries into Assamese and Vaishnavite Hinduism.

They are an indigenous people in the Assamese people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism, and they primarily speak Assamese.
