The Bhumihar Brahmin of India
The Bhumihar Brahmin of India, numbering about 3,100,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a landowning Brahmin community of Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh who traditionally abandoned priestly functions for agriculture. Their name derives from the Sanskrit bhumi (land).
They are an indigenous people in the Brahmin people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism, and they primarily speak Magahi.
