The Namasudra of India
The Namasudra of India, numbering about 4,800,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Bengali Hindu community originating in eastern Bengal whose identity was shaped by a history of social exclusion, agrarian settlement, and the Matua reform movement that emerged among Namasudras in the nineteenth century.
They are an indigenous people in the Namasudra people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism, and they primarily speak Bengali.
