The Chol of Mexico
The Chol of Mexico, numbering about 396,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Maya people of the northern Chiapas highlands in Mexico, believed descended from the ancient builders of Palenque, who call themselves Winik and migrated into the region from Guatemala and Honduras roughly two thousand years ago.
They are an indigenous people in the Maya people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples. Their primary religion is Folk Catholicism, and they primarily speak Chol.
