The Red Thai of Laos
The Red Thai of Laos, numbering about 47,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Tai people whose ancestors migrated southeast down Vietnam's Red and Black River valleys rather than the Mekong route taken by other Tai groups, originating in Thanh Hoa's Meuang Daeng district before emigrating to Laos one to two centuries ago.
They are an indigenous people in the Tai people cluster of the Southeast Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Animism, and they primarily speak Tai Daeng.
