The Guaymi of Panama
The Guaymi of Panama, numbering about 257,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Chibchan people known as Ngabe or Guaymi who retreated into the mountains to escape the Spanish after Columbus's 1502 contact, remaining semi-nomadic until the 1960s and winning a semi-autonomous comarca in 1997.
They are an indigenous people in the South American Indigenous people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion, and they primarily speak Ngäbere.
