The Pokomam of Guatemala
The Pokomam of Guatemala, numbering about 51,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Maya people of southeastern Guatemala whose precolonial capital at Chinautla Viejo fell under Kiche control before Spanish conquest, disease, and forced relocation reduced their communities to small surviving pockets, the largest in Jalapa department.
They are an indigenous people in the Maya people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion, and they primarily speak Poqomam.
