The Khwarshi of the Russian Federation
The Khwarshi of the Russian Federation, numbering about 4,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Nakh-Daghestanian people of seven villages in Dagestan's Tsumadinsky District who traditionally identify by home village rather than a shared ethnonym, converted to Sunni Islam under Sufi influence in the 1500s, and were deported to Chechnya in 1944.
They are an indigenous people in the Caucasus people cluster of the Eurasian Peoples. Their primary religion is Sunni Islam, and they primarily speak Khvarshi.
