They are associated with the Sasawa language and are part of the broader network of small interior peoples inhabiting the Apauwar basin.
They are an indigenous people in the New Guinea people cluster of the Pacific Islander Peoples. Their primary religion is Protestantism, and they primarily speak Kwerba.
