The Sasak of Indonesia
The Sasak of Indonesia, numbering about 3,905,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are the original Austronesian inhabitants of Lombok in Indonesia, dominated for over a century by Balinese rulers until nineteenth-century Islamic peasant revolts triggered the Dutch conquest of 1894.
They are an indigenous people in the Bali-Sasak people cluster of the Malay Peoples. Their primary religion is Sunni Islam, and they primarily speak Sasak.
