The Batak Dairi of Indonesia
The Batak Dairi of Indonesia, numbering about 2,060,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Pakpak-Dairi Batak people descended from Proto-Malayan settlers isolated around Sumatra's Lake Toba highlands until 1825, drawn into conflict with the Islamized Minangkabau before Dutch forces subdued the region in the Batak War of 1872 to 1894.
They are an indigenous people in the Batak-Nias of Sumatra people cluster of the Malay Peoples. Their primary religion is Protestantism, and they primarily speak Batak Dairi.
