The Alas of Indonesia
The Alas of Indonesia, numbering about 269,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a patrilineal, clan-organized people of the Alas River valley in southeast Aceh, with historical and cultural ties to the Karo Batak.
They are an indigenous people in the Aceh of Sumatra people cluster of the Malay Peoples. Their primary religion is Sunni Islam, and they primarily speak Batak Alas-Kluet.
