The Western Samadu of China
The Western Samadu of China, numbering about 10,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Yi-related people of western Yunnan descended from Ming-era Han military settlers who intermarried with local Yi communities and gradually developed a distinct Samadu identity.
They are an indigenous people in the Other Tibeto-Burmese people cluster of the Tibetan Peoples. Their primary religion is Chinese Folk Religion, and they primarily speak Mandarin Chinese.
