The North Tannese of Vanuatu
The North Tannese of Vanuatu, numbering about 9,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are an Austronesian people of northern Tanna Island in Vanuatu, closely related to the neighboring Whitesands and Lenakel, known for the elaborate Nekowiar exchange ceremony and a traditional culture largely unaffected by outside influence.
They are an indigenous people in the Vanuatu people cluster of the Pacific Islander Peoples. Their primary religion is Roman Catholicism, and they primarily speak North Tanna.
