The Nenema of New Caledonia
The Nenema of New Caledonia, numbering about 1,300 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are a Kanak people of the Poum and Tiabet area in far northern New Caledonia, whose Nelemwa-Nixumwak language received its first written standard only in 1990 from the Nenema Linguistic Committee.
They are an indigenous people in the New Caledonia people cluster of the Pacific Islander Peoples. Their primary religion is Roman Catholicism, and they primarily speak Nêlêmwa-Nixumwak.
