The Asheninca Pajonal of Peru
The Asheninca Pajonal of Peru, numbering about 12,000 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are an Amazonian people of Peru's Gran Pajonal plateau whose ancestors destroyed Franciscan missions there in the 1740s under Juan Santos Atahualpa, later gaining land security in the 1980s when most of the plateau was deeded to 36 Asheninka communities.
They are an indigenous people in the Amazon people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion, and they primarily speak Ashéninka Pajonal.
