The Chachapoyas Quechua of Peru
The Chachapoyas Quechua of Peru, numbering about 8,900 people, are No Longer Unreached. They are descendants of the Chachapoya, cloud-forest warriors who built the mountain fortress of Kuelap in Peru's Amazonas region between roughly 900 and 1100 AD, who fiercely resisted Inca conquest until their defeat around 1475 and forced resettlement.
They are an indigenous people in the Quechua people cluster of the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion, and they primarily speak Chachapoyas Quechua.
